Kudos to the Dad Who Gave His Own Special Dose of #CommonCore Nonsense

by Kim D.

Since the inception and gross introduction of Common Core standards into our children's classroom, parents have been understandably frustrated, much like Ohio dad, Doug Herrmann.
Supporters, present and past, including flip-floppers like Mike Huckabee, have steadfastly claimed that Common Core offers rigorous standards; however, parents are quickly realizing that this new definition of "rigorous" means simply "more complicated."

It's not enough that children know that 11-5=6. They must "show" their knowledge by demonstrating the concept different ways visually. In order for parents to engage and participate in their children's learning experience, they need a Common Core translation manual.

Perhaps that's why Herrmann decided to give the school a dose of its own ridiculousness when it comes to figuring out "more complicated math." He simply wrote a check to the school using common core lingo. On his Facebook page, he jokes about his check going viral and claims he never actually sent the check to school, further stating: "I was just making a "funny" with the check. You want my real thoughts on Common Core...if you "have" to teach it, keep it in the classroom. Homework should be; reading, writing, science, gym (I'm really good at gym) and art (I suck at art) but I can't help my kids with Common Core. KEEP IT IN THE CLASSROOM, you won't piss so many parents off!"

Like most parents opposed to Common Core standards, I'm still fist pumping about his brilliant way to show the ultimate "fail" our school systems are trying to thrust upon students. However, I don't agree that the ridiculous math should be kept at school so parents will be oblivious to what is being taught. Until we have a new administration willing to dump these standards, parents should buy that translation manual and help children cope with the frustration now known as math class.

Washington state high school junior class boycotts Common Core standards testing.

By Rob Janicki
Just when you think the youth of America is going down the toilet and taking America with it, comes this rather uplifting news.

It seems the Junior Class at Seattle's Nathan Hale High School isn't exactly thrilled with the latest state testing, called Smarter Balanced, and administered to determine if student academic achievement has met the national Common Core standards.  Parents, teachers and administrators in some numbers are also not inclined to accept the Common Core standards and the testing related to these standards.

Not a single junior at Seattle’s Nathan Hale High showed up to take new state tests in reading and math this week, a school-district spokeswoman said Thursday.

Testing started Tuesday at the school, where a group of teachers, administrators, parents and students had earlier agreed to boycott the exams, called Smarter Balanced, which are replacing Washington’s old statewide tests.

Under pressure from the district’s top administrators, the school’s leaders capitulated, sending an email to families saying they would give the test after all.

But the 280 juniors — who don’t need to pass the Smarter Balanced exam to graduate from high school — opted out anyway.

As a retired high school teacher, I would oppose the testing based upon any national standards set by the U.S. Department of Education, which I believe should either be abolished, or, at the very least, significantly reduced in scope and authority over local schools and school districts.  Allowing the federal government to set standards allows bureaucrats to establish a "group think" outcome.  Such setting of standards should reside within the local school districts in conjunction with their state board of education and there is a good reason for this.

Local schools, school boards and communities of students and parents are the best institutions for structuring the educational framework that best meets and suits the needs of the students and the community they reside in.  American public education was created and based upon local control.  It was never envisioned that the federal government would regulate education across all of America.  The thought that far off Washington, D.C. and the bureaucrats of DoE are better suited to determine what is best for all America is simply a subterfuge to establish a "group think" along the political lines and ideology of the liberal left, which has infiltrated every federal agency.

More details of this protest can be found at the Seattle Times.

What Happens When a Liberal Uses #CommonCore Math #MemoriesPizza

by Kim D.

As promised, creators of the GoFundMe page for Memories Pizza closed donations and the result was $842,592.00 was raised by 29,166 within a 4-day period. That's an average donation of $28.89, even though actual donations were as high as $5k and as low as $5.

But when liberal-minded Kandyce Brothers did the math, she came up with a different number and a Koch conspiracy as well! The stoopid burns . . . .

Jeb Bush Doubles-Down on Common-Core

While in New Hampshire, with Governor Scott Walker, Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush decided he'd start poking sticks at Governor Walker, who has never hid his opposition to Common Core, after Governor Walker declared himself the "front-runner in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

Not to be outdone, former FL Governor Bush figured he'd throw jabs at Governor Walker and doubled-down on his pro-Common Core position, while he was at it.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush yesterday poked fun at Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s declaration that he’s the front-runner in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, as both heavyweights are set to collide in the Granite State for a second straight day today.

Of course, then Bush, being the mushy, pro-Amnesty, squishy on Second-Amendment, pro-Common-Core Moderate Republican that he is decided to start showing his true colors when he was asked, "so are you declaring that you are running, in 2016?"

This shows how "out of touch" Bush really is with this entire Country and what an uphill fight he's going to have with the electoral collage, should he indeed decide to run.

Yes, Common-Core may be the "standard," here in Florida, but even we are fighting to get this leach off our educational student body.

The Standardized testing of No Child Left Behind is one thing, this is Our Country Gone to Hell. Common Core is the Islamic dummyingdown of our Children and is a total waste of our Educational resources.  My step-son is in the 3rd Grade, is doing Algebra math, and has Common-Core math being inflicted on him.  He asked his teacher if he "had the correct answer," and her answer to him (I kid you not), "I don't know, this is the Common-Core math book, and this one doesn't have an answer key."

Any candidate that stands against our children, our Constitution, that includes the Second Amendment, and stands for the "fundamentally changing America" will not get my vote. That includes the occasionallyracially divisive, anti-second amendment, somewhat unpatriotic, US government slamming, gaffing Dr. Carson.

Inexperienced men, who are great with flowery words that are only meant to stir our Emotions just won't do it this time.
We see where that's gotten us. Professor Obama said something a lot like Dr. Carson before he took office, regardless of what he said during his campaigning.
"I don't believe people should be able to own guns," Obama told Lott one day at the University of Chicago Law School. - Professor Obama

I guess he "evolved" on our rights, after he took office, because he's signed 23 Executive Orders regarding our gun rights oh and two more after that.  Can't forget the ATF and Diane Feinstein's attempt at an outright gun ban, again, because her 1984 ban didn't prove useless enough.
