Yeah, me neither because if a cartoonist had dared to depict the Obama children as monkeys the outrage backlash and screams of racism would have been insurmountable. But Ted Cruz's children, ages 5 and 7, are certainly fair game. From the party of political correctness and award winning cartoonist Ann Telnaes, comes the following, depicting Catherine and Caroline as monkeys:

According to multiple news sources, the cartoon, originally posted in The Washington Post, has been removed by editorial fiat, even though the publication understands why the cartoonist decided lampooning the Cruz children were fair game because the senator had used them in the recent humorous ad "Cruz Christmas Classics":Evidently the argument is that Senator Cruz opened that door the minute he decided to include his children in political ads. Evidently, Ted Cruz is the first presidential candidate bold enough to do this:

Aren't double standards great? (insert double eye roll here)However, this is the excuse by the cartoonist and, in her mind, justification for her attack on the Cruz children. Aside from the fact that her logic is a bit flawed, what is more apparent is that Telnaes has the moral compass of a guttersnipe with major daddy issues:
The core problem here is that Ann Telnaes has no moral foundation. She knows there are rules, but she doesn't know *why* there are rules.

So Telnaes simply thought she could reason her way to an exception to the rule: kids are off limits.

But her reasoning—Cruz did it, so they're fair game—does not actuall address the reason for the rule.

The reason, in case you were wondering, why kids are off limits is because they lack culpability AND the capacity to respond.
