As the current deadline for negotiations with Iran expires, we find that the Obama administration has been negotiating with itself and coming up on the short end of those negotiations. Meanwhile, the Iranian negotiating team has stepped back to admire their handiwork of obfuscation and prevarication and how it has completely disabled and dumbfounded the Obama administration and its allies.
As another Obama 'red line in the sand' has apparently come and gone, it only strengthens and emboldens the Iranians in their negotiating positions and why shouldn't it? It's clearly a message of weakness being projected by the Obama administration, while our hapless allies can only sit by on the sidelines and wonder how Obama won a second term as president of the most powerful country in the world.
If it's any consolation to our allies, more Americans are wondering the same thing. How could America elect Obama for a second term, when he has proven to be ineffective, if not completely incompetent, in his juvenile attempt at foreign policy development and implementation?
To say the Obama administration is poor at negotiating international agreements is an understatement of the definition of 'poor', bordering on Bill Clinton's, "It depends on what the definition of is, is."
The Obama administration has already been playing down the March 31st deadline and saying it could come up with an agreement in a matter of days or hours and, falling that, could come up with an agreement by the other deadline of June 2015. It's like the Obama administration is willingly playing into the game plan of Iran, which is to stall, misdirect and then change the underlying terms, conditions and reasons of the negotiations, while the game is still underway.
The Obama administration failed miserably in attempting to oust tinpot dictator Bashir al Assad in Syria, and the Assad regime is only a minor league team of terrorism. How can anyone believe the Obama administration will have any better outcome with a major league player of terrorism like Iran, the acknowledged leader in global terrorism?
All indications are that the Obama administration will once again fail in negotiations with a terrorist nation. There is simply no reason to believe otherwise. The rumblings from the negotiations have the U.S. pulling out of the negotiations, if they do not demonstrate progress with Iran. Does the Obama administration not realize that such loose and open ended talk leads to a continuation of the status quo, whereby Iran continues its march to a nuclear development program leading to the weaponization of nuclear material?
By all indications it would appear that the Obama administration has learned nothing from its many failures in negotiating with enemies and that, sadly, will, in the end, see a nuclear Iran with the ability to carry out their avowed threat to destroy Israel. I can already hear Obama's reply to that outcome. 'Well, we tried to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. We just couldn't get to that point.' Meanwhile, Israel will become a radioactive pile of rubble because Obama 'tried and failed'.
