Hall of Fame comedian Ernie Kovacs was born 97 years ago today, in
Trenton, N.J. He had two series on 1950s TV that were considered far out at the
time and would be considered more so today.
One of his stock characters was poet Percy Dovetonsils, the subject of
spoofs by Roy Clark on "Hee Haw" years later. Mr. Kovacs passed away
far too soon, in 1962 at the age of 42, survived by his singer wife Edie Adams
and two children.
