Hillary's ongoing fiasco with her email server isn't just an issue of
messaging that can be cleaned up with better PR by her followers and
other Democrats. Hillary's problems are deep and profound. She is
currently the subject of an FBI criminal probe for possible violations
of federal law regarding improper storage and email communication of
classified government material. Hillary is also subject to a
Congressional committee investigation over her emails, that will take
place in early October. Hillary's problems are like an open wound
that continues to fester with no end in sight, not a good thing in the
midst of the most important activity in her life.
Adding to Hillary's problems are the increasing rumors that Vice
President Joe Biden is seriously considering taking another shot at
the Democratic presidential nomination. It's being reported that
Biden's oldest son, Beau, who died recently at age 46, on his death
bed, urged Joe to run for the Democrat Party nomination for a third
time. The plot would definitely thicken with Biden in the Democrat
mix of candidates and we haven't even mentioned Vermont Senator Bernie
Sanders, avowed socialist, as he has continued to climb in the polls
while Hillary has plummeted,
Meanwhile, Hillary is demonstrating something that may well be her
measured decent into political oblivion faster than her failing
performance in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary when she was
thoroughly thrashed by a political neophyte with the peculiar name of
Barack Obama, an unknown Illinois politician and newly minted U.S.
Senator
The latest CNN/ORC poll has Hillary at 47% among her fellow Democrats,
but that's not where her story is or where it's going. It's the
trend that is important in predicting and prognosticating on her
political future, remembering that only a few months ago, Hillary was
considered the presumptive nominee of the Democrat Party, with her
coronation a mere formality.
The trend in Hillary's polling is not her friend. Quite the contrary,
Hillary's polling is developing a crushing reality among Democrats and
political analysts. Hillary is falling out of favor with Democrats
because they believe she is untrustworthy overall and is very
vulnerable over the mishandling of her personal email server and the
possibility of her legal liability in the matter. Even Democrats are
loathe to support someone possibly on the cusp of being indicted for
multiple federal crimes.
Below are the data points in the downward trending for Hillary and
they represent a steady and consistent pattern sliding into what
historically would be viewed as ultimate political failure.
April 19 (69%), May 31 (60%), June 28 (58%), July 22 (57%), and August
16 (47%). Expect to see the next CNN poll to show Hillary's
percentage support in the mid-40s. There is simply nothing on the
horizon to give anyone, except a hardcore Clintonista, a reasonable
belief that Hillary can slow or stop this downward spiral, let alone
reverse the trajectory upward.
