Jim Webb is not your typical Democrat. He's a combat veteran who received the Navy Cross. He dislikes lifetime politicians. He's pro-2nd amendment. He's not sold on climate change as a religion. He's skeptical of trade deals. Because of these and other positions, he has struggled to gain traction in the polls. Hillary and Bernie don't seem to take him seriously.
After the first Democratic debate on CNN last week, he publicly complained about his time and whether or not the entire event was rigged in favor of the top two candidates. Many were asking if he even fit in with his party.
A couple decades ago, with all his experience and credentials, he likely would have been their front runner. But after Obama, there is no place for a moderate candidate in the Democratic party. Especially when Republicans acknowledge that they could handle or even support a Webb presidency.
Today his campaign emailed there would be a press conference Tuesday afternoon. The subject? "Jim Webb to consider independent run."
We'll see what happens, but Webb's days with the party that doesn't want him anyway, may be over. His dissatisfaction with his debate time, however, will live on in YouTube video history:
