It's happened before and it will happen again. A liberal spokesperson for Moms Demand Action opened her mouth and began her diatribe for more gun control in the aftermath of the horrible tragedy in Chattanooga, Tennessee, last week. A mass shooting in two separate locations resulted in the murders of five American servicemen at the hands of a young Muslim male, said to be suffering from every excuse possible.
On July 20, Moms Demand Action president Shannon Watts admitted, “we’re still learning the facts about what happened in Chattanooga,” then she called for more gun control.
Despite not knowing all the facts, Watts raced ahead of any fact finding in her haste to call for more gun control. This is a typical liberal response to any shootings, by implying the shootings could have been avoided if only more laws were in place to control the illegal purchase and use of guns.
The problem is that in the Chattanooga shootings the evidence indicates that the gunman, Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, purchased all the guns he used in his shooting spree legally. Watts decided to pick a nit through implication, innuendo and obfuscation of the facts then known and conveniently avoided addressing the legality of the purchases made by Absulazeez.
Abdulazeez was not barred from gun possession. He was not on the FBI watchlist, and he did not have (a) criminal record to prevent him from passing a background check. Thus he did pass a background check for at least “some” of his guns.
Watts took this fact situation to mean that he did not pass "all" the legally required background tests and thus "loopholes" in the gun laws allowed the tragedy to occur and must be fixed by new laws to prevent such buyers from buying guns without a background check.
Watts has used a variety of claims to assert there are "loopholes" in just about anything related to purchasing a gun.
...the “online gun sale loophole” is in addition to Watts’s “gun show loophole", “the “background check loophole,” and her newly-minted “Charleston Loophole.”
It seems that Ms. Watts uses this menu of claimed "loopholes" to assert any anti gun argument she addresses at any given circumstance involving the use of a gun in crime.
If any legislation could be passed to prevent the illegal "use" of guns, then why not pass laws simply preventing the commissions of crimes like murder and robbery. Laws seldom prevent the commissions of the crimes that they address. Instead, they are used to apply consequences to those who choose to violate the intent the of the laws created to protect the public.
Watts is just another liberal propagandist dissembling the facts to fit the liberal narrative that all guns are bad and people who have or want guns to protect themselves from criminals are somehow part of the problem of gun related crimes. Liberals often use this approach to call for the curtailment of gun ownership or the outright call to limit the 2nd Amendment to use of guns by the military. Fortunately, there are more lawful gun owners in America than there are mentally disordered liberals seeking to overturn the intent of the Founding Fathers.
