Hillary's Dilemma

By Rob Janicki
She's as crooked a politician as there is in America and her polling numbers are falling like a rock.  However, despite what would be a death knell for any other common politician, Hillary still manages to have a substantial following who don't care about her lack of ethics and her congenital lying.  Hillary is a woman and her vagina means something in terms of feminist votes, which are substantial among young women.

That said, Hillary is actually between a rock and a hard place.  She can't openly run on Barack Obama's record, since it  long ago proved to be that of a loser.  She can't run on her record at the State Department, as just about every initiative she was involved in as Obama's surrogate was a failure and those strategies continue to fail.

The reset with Russia was such a failure that Vladimir Putin decided to annex the Crimea and was so  successful that he decided to take on Ukraine as his next victim.  Putin still holds Ukraine in the palm of his hand waiting for the moment that the Obama administration stumbles or is so preoccupied elsewhere, that the West will be unable to do anything about a divided Ukraine.

Lest we forget, Hillary was standing with Obama as the Arab Spring blossomed and both of them called for Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak to step down.  When Muslim Brotherhood candidate and terrorist Muhammad Morsi won the presidential election, Hillary stood four square behind Morsi as he tried to obviate the Egyptian Constitution to install himself as a dictator of Egypt.  Morsi has since been tried for high crimes against the state and the people of Egypt and has been found guilty.  He has been sentenced to death and is now in the appeals process.  So much for Hillary's role in the Arab Spring and the democracy it was suppose to bring Egypt.

Hillary's other foreign policy failures include Syria, which has devolved into killing fields of over 250,000 Syrians in a civil war to topple the brutal dictator, Bashar al Assad, who follows in his father's footsteps, as he savages his own people.  Hillary was right behind Obama when he called for Assad to step down and drew a red line in the sand, which ultimately meant absolutely nothing, as Obama did nothing as Assad violated every international injunction against him.

Not satisfied with failing in Syria, Obama and Hillary tried to make something out of deposing Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi by leading from behind in an invasion of Libya with no plan for stabilizing Libya in the aftermath of Gaddafi's death at the hands of radical Islamist terrorists all too happy to replace him with their own brand of terror.  Today, Libya stands as an ISIS terrorist stronghold and training ground.

So where does all this leave Hillary?  So far her campaign theme seems to be that she is running as a champion of the middle class, which has been decimated in six years of Obamanomics.  Hillary's characterization that she is really one of "them" in the middle class is laughable and simply a dreadful strategy, what with the hundreds of millions of dollars she and husband Bill have been able to amass in the last 15 years since Bill left office.

All of the above said, Hillary still remains formidable as of this date, despite her current downward trend.  How does she manage this?  Thanks to Republicans who can't get their act together, Hillary almost looks good in comparison.  The salvation for the Republicans, if there is one, is that for the first time in several election cycles, an establishment Republican will most probably not be the party's nominee come the November 2016 election.  However, the Republican Party Clown Car congregation, in the meantime, does not add to the seriousness of the 2016 election in the eyes of voters.

Can Hillary recover by the time the primary season begins?  I am personally skeptical about that possibility, but then again, Republicans have proven time and again that they have the ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.  Let's hope that scenario does not present itself on November 8, 2016.
