I was born a Clemson Tiger, and there was no doubt, from the very beginning, that my blood ran orange and I would be the third generation to attend Clemson University and all those football games in famous Death Valley.
Today, I pretty much hate football because I was hauled to every game to which my dad had tickets. In fact, today the only time I can stomach watching football is when Clemson plays a major rival (Florida State Seminoles or South Carolina Gamecocks) or a bowl game. So tonight the craziness of the world will be put on hold for a few hours while my husband, son, and I watch and root for the Tigers to beat Alabama and win the CFP Championship.
The last time Clemson won a national title, I was, of course, there with my parents having driven all the way from South Carolina to Miami, FL. The drive was awful and I was less than thrilled to be wasting valuable Christmas break vacation time from school for a football game road trip. But, looking back on it, Danny Ford's Tigers in 1981 were exceptional to watch and they deserved the win that day against Nebraska which gave Clemson its first national championship.
Tonight the Tigers, led by head coach Dabo Swinney, have all the tools needed to secure a second national championship. Clemson (#1) and Alabama (#2) face off at the University of Phoenix Stadium at 8:30 pm EST tonight. Tune into ESPN or watch it via online streaming.
