On Tuesday, Senate Democrats voted against sanctions, including defunding, for those Democrat controlled cities that have chosen to become sanctuary cities providing protection for illegal criminal aliens over the safety of law abiding American citizens.
The vote required 60 votes to move on, but failed 54-45, with Lindsay Graham (R-SC) not casting a vote, while Democrats Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Joe Donnelly (D-IN) voted with Republicans, and Republican Mark Kirk (R-IL) voted with Democrats. Both Independents, Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Angus King (I-ME) voted with Democrats.
The Obama White House had previously vowed to veto the Bill, if it were to pass.
What is incomprehensible is that the Democrat vote was essentially against the rule of law, which is the foundation cornerstone to our constitutional republic. If sanctuary city Democrat administrations and President Obama can flaunt the federal laws on the books on illegal immigration and those illegal immigrants who have violated United States laws, where do such actions end?
It's obvious that Democrats are cultivating illegal immigrants as future Democratic voters, as there is no other rational explanation. With illegal immigrants running afoul of the law and jeopardizing the health and safety of Americans and those immigrants here legally, there is no other logical explanation. There is no rational argument based upon humanitarian concerns, since there is no such corresponding concern for the health and safety of Americans or those immigrants here legally.
What we are seeing is a governmentally institutionalized policy of political anarchy sanctioned and supported by liberal progressive Democrats, for the Democrat Party. The United States is at a tipping point and this is just one example of the tide of political history moving toward the destruction of our system of government as we know it and toward an authoritarian and despotic leadership of liberal progressives in elected offices in America. The slide to corrupt our system of government continues unabated by Republicans that go along to get along with Democrats.
Note to Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Leader: If you are not part of the solution, possibly using the nuclear option in the Senate like Harry Reid did, then you are part of the problem leading to the failure of our government. Either get tough with Democrats or get out of the way for someone who will stick up for those voters on the political right.
