The Democratic bastion of Chicago continues on as the unofficial murder capital of a major liberal city in America. The 4th of July holiday was absolutely brutal in terms of shootings and resulting deaths and injuries. What punctuated this grisly weekend of mindless shooting involved the death of a 7 year old child.
Seven-year-old Amari Brown was killed in a shooting that also left a 26-year-old woman wounded late Saturday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
Police said Sunday the bullet that fatally wounded 7-year-old Amari Brown on the Fourth of July was meant for his father. Both Amari and the 26-year-old woman were shot in the chest at 11:55 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Harding, police said.
Here's the irony of this tragic and senseless death of a 7 year old child.
The boy’s father, Antonio Brown, is a ranking gang member with 45 previous arrests and was not cooperating with police as of Sunday afternoon as they tried to find his son’s killer, Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said Sunday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Chicago gangs are among the most savage and brutal gangs in the United States and have been for well over 50 years. Chicago police indicated that they had been picking up illegal guns on the street at the rate of one per hour over the holiday weekend. Unfortunately, this did nothing to prevent the 10 deaths and the 53 shooting injuries from guns.
Chicago's gun laws, among the toughest in the nation, have had little affect upon the criminal element, while making it extremely difficult for law abiding Chicago residents to acquire firearms for their own self defense. It should be noted that progressive Illinois is the last state to allow concealed carry gun permits. Perhaps if more people in Chicago had CCW permits there might be less crime. Maybe it's time to give this concept a chance to play out and see if that changes the number of gun crimes in Chicago.
Gerry McCarthy, Supt. of the Chicago Police Department, has had a spotty career as Chicago's top cop, since he was appointed Supt. of Chicago PD in May 2011, by new mayor, Democrat Rahm Emanuel. In McCarthy's first couple of years in office, it appeared that crime, including murder, was down in Chicago. Unfortunately, reporting of serious felony crime statistics came under attack as being faulty and not following mandated procedures.
Other than complaining about the proliferation of guns on the street, Chicago PD does not appear to have a comprehensive plan to attack the endemic problem of indiscriminate gun related murders and injuries on the streets of minority communities in Chicago. Instead, it seems that Mayor Emanuel's plan is to confine crime and murder within the black neighborhoods and project housing.
It was white liberals that created high-rise public housing ghettos in the inner city to keep blacks restricted to high density housing on the liberal plantation and away from the upscale white neighborhoods. Those blacks that were able to move up to the middle class, moved to the suburbs, leaving behind a perpetual class of career criminals and those mired in generational poverty, courtesy of liberal government.
