George W. Bush has been saddled with very poor favorability polling levels since leaving the White House in January 2009. "W" has been beaten up like a rented mule since then, even though he is out of active politics and only remains in the political shadows, saying nothing and although showing up from time to time for charitable events that he supports in the hopes of raising funds for the charity events he attends.
"W" has assiduously avoided making judgments on the performance of Barack Obama, as has his wife who never criticizes Michelle Obama for her projects and causes as First Lady. Whatever one thinks of "W's" politics, he has always maintained a high level of civility as he demonstrates he is imbued with character. Barack Obama, however, continues to blame others for his failures. I cannot remember one instance where George W. Bush ever blamed anyone else for the failure of any of his policies.
Fast forward to the latest polling comparing favorability between George W. Bush and Barack Obama, which are somewhat surprising considering how the MSM has used "W" as a punch line for jokes to deflect from the various failures of Obama's many foreign policy follies and economic disasters.
In the latest polling directly comparing George W. Bush and Barack Obama, Obama comes up significantly short in the comparison. Here's some polling data from the past and the latest polling.
According to the results of the survey, released Wednesday, 52 percent hold a favorable view of Bush, while 43 percent view the former president unfavorably — the first time in more than a decade that a majority of Americans viewed Bush favorably. The same poll, conducted in April 2005, at the beginning of his second term, found 54 percent held a favorable view of Bush, compared to 45 percent unfavorable.
Like Bush, Obama has seen his favorability fall during his second term. Following the 2012 election, 56 percent viewed Obama favorably versus 41 percent unfavorably. In the latest poll, Americans are split on Obama, with 49 percent holding a favorable view and 49 percent viewing him unfavorably.
