Despite America liberal progressives trying to get out the vote for Netanyahu's opponent, left wing Isaac Herzog, head of the Zionist Union, Netanyahu's Likud Party appears to have survived its greatest challenge to date in its rule over Israel.
Israeli elections are completely different than elections in America. They are based upon many political parties, 25 in all this election, establishing working coalitions among the mix of parties measured by winning seats in the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset. 11 of the 25 political parties are expected to meet the minimum threshold of four seats in the Knesset in order to participate in the upcoming 20th Knesset and the selection of the Prime Minister, currently Benjamin Netanyahu.
What makes this election all the more interesting is that an American liberal progressive voter activist group, formerly working in the two Obama presidential campaigns, went to Israel for the express purpose of getting out the vote of liberal Israelis to cast out Bibi Netanyahy as Prime Minister of Israel. It is obvious that this was the result of the ongoing personal and political vendetta President Obama has waged against Netanyahu. It's no secret that Obama can not stand Netanyahu and the latest brouhaha over Bibi accepting an invitation to speak before Congress merely made Bibi's victory all the more difficult for Obama and his sycophants to swallow. I can only imagine the tempers flaring in the White House over this situation which has the makings of a direct affront to Obama in a "gotcha moment" for Netanyahu. Don't expect Netanyahu to even mention Obama as force aligned against him in this election. Netanyahu has more class than that.
